Understand the grief process.
The journey of grief is real. Each of us grieves differently and at our own pace. What one person experiences is not the same as the next person, even within the same family. The type of death experience – accident, child, parent, spouse, suicide, murder – affects people differently also.
For some people, talking to friends or a family member helps them through the grief process. Others might find help in reading books, and still others find the help of an outside person is right for them. It is important for everyone going through this journey to find what is right for them and to understand it is okay to seek out help and support.
We have a large variety of books that we, as well as families we have served, have found helpful and are available to borrow. For those who are in need of an outside resource, we recommend families be in touch with The Healing Place, a program offered through Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. They offer many different programs and support groups for all ages and individuals.

Create a Memorial Tribute DVD.
The important reason we have a visitation or wake is to allow us time to remember and honor a life. We encourage families to personalize our chapel space to reflect that life. This may include bringing in family pictures, personal items such as gardening tools, fishing and hunting gear, or original artwork.
Music can also be another important part of this gathering time. We have played everything from polka and gospel, to country western and heavy metal. Special friends or family members have played piano or other instrumental background music.
Many families are having a memorial tribute DVD created from family pictures to be viewed during the visitation. Some families make their own, but we can have a professional DVD created for you. We have packages available to suit your specific requests.
